Committee Members

We are here to serve!

Phumulani Makgetho

I am a final year Actuarial Science student at the University of Kent and part of the Men's Volleyball team. I studied my A levels at Livingstone Kolobeng College before coming to the UK.

One of our goals as the BSU committee for the academic year 2020/2021 is to diversify the interactive activities that the BSU hosts, as a way to cater for all students within the community. We also want to strengthen the existing link between the student body and the Botswana High Commission, as well as that between current and prospective students. We plan on seeing to fruition some of the plans instigated but not completed (due to term end) by the retiring Committee. One of which is to address the silent but very much prevalent problem of mental health. Unfortunately we begin our term during a pandemic meaning that we can not physically meet for events in the foreseeable future. It is definitely a difficult time but as inspired young minds that we are, we refuse to do nothing. As such we are focusing most of our efforts in developing digital platforms for the union.

We are here to serve! Many thanks to the former committee.

To the student body and the Botswana High Commission, thank you for giving us this opportunity. Re a Leboga!

Dimakatso Phuthego

Vice President

A third year Actuarial Science student at University College Dublin and a Livingstone Kolobeng College alumnus with knowledge and skills across different fields. His versatility will be instrumental to the progression and achievement of projects undertaken by the team and will promote collaborative working relations within the committee. Dimakatso will diligently respond to his duties as the Vice President and will serve with accountability, respect, transparency and ensure efficiency in all the proceedings that occur between the committee (on behalf of the student body) and the Botswana High commission.

Rosinah Mphetlhe

Chief Finance Officer

After successfully completing her A level in 2018 at Rainbow High School, Botswana, Rosinah Mphetlhe left for London, United Kingdom to pursue BSc Investment and Financial Risk Management at City University of London. She has over the years accumulated vast knowledge and skills in Budgeting, Risk Management, Financial and Management Accounting.

With her excellent financial skills, hard work, cultural intelligence, and zeal to empower, Rosinah is well vested for the Financial Officer role and development of the BSU. She intends to serve with utmost credibility and accountability, working diligently and openly with the team and all members.

Chazha Mafunye

Chief Communications Officer

My name is Chazha and I am a Final Year Chemical Engineering student at the University of Sheffield and the Chief Communications Officer in the BSU committee. Although my course is in the STEM eco-system, I have always enjoyed diving into the arts (acting, singing and dancing) and working on projects that required creativity and thinking outside of the box. Upon arriving in Sheffield, my interest in P.R and digital content grew. My role in both my societies involves creating content for all the social media platforms and website. As an International Student Ambassador, interpersonal and communication skills are essential when engaging with prospective students.
My goals as a C.C.O are:
to create content that is engaging and informative.

establish and maintain an effective relationship between the High Commision and Batswana studying in the U.K and Ireland.
plan and coordinate activites and events online and in person when possible.

I am honoured and humbled to be able to comply to the needs of BSU community. I promise to give 100% and making sure the concerns, suggestions and opinions of the community are the core of all our projects.
God bless and Godspeed to you all.

Refiloe Katse
